So It seems that companies give 1 & 2 year warranties on alot of their products. But at the sametime it seems that when reading through the warranty, if you had any part in the amplifier/speaker/Head unit etc. malfunctioning then its not covered.
Though I have still sent my rockford fosgate amp in to rockford before and had it fixed, but I find the warranties a little misleading.
Now my REAL question is about the warranty on subwoofers (Rockford). I have a T110D4 that has a burnt coil but is very well still under the 2 year warranty. In the manual it States- Damage caused by accident, abuse, improper operations, water, theft, shipping... Now mine is a burnt voice-coil that happened during the Malfunction of my amplifier. But it seems like they can decide that it was an "Accident" or "Abuse"
I see the "Damage Caused by Accident" and makes me think I dont want to ship this 25lb sub that gonna cost me 30-40$ to ship if I'm just gonna have it returned to me because it was an "Accident".
Would this be covered under warranty? What experiances have you had with sending subwoofers under warranty after a period of time?

Burnt coils are not usually covered by warrenty.......Call and ask someone in service if covered.
Some companies just require the "soft" parts to be shipped reducing cost.
burnt coil is not caused by a manufacture failure in the subwoofer...simply from overpowering of the voice coil which is from the USER. So no it is not covered unless you have a Best Buy warranty that covers anything.

No my T10001bd Malfunctioned and burnt both of my 10inch voice coils at the sametime. And im not talking they just got hot and fried. NO they Blew up UP as the amplifier locked itself into Protect and Thermal mode (not sure what the exact problem was since both came on but the amplifier was at a normal running temperature). Ashes all over the inside of my box and on the frame of the subwoofer. as if the ash had settled after about an hour or so when i was able to pull the subwoofers out. So this was no USER incident. I've fried voicecoils before.

Yer coils are toasted.... you will play HARD to get any manufacturerererer to provide warranty.

Burnt coils will not be warrantied unless they were professionally installed and you have proof (ie. receipts) that show your date of install.
Exactly what I thought... so then what is the point for subwoofers or speakers in general to have 1 and 2 year warranties if they are only warrented when they arrive DOA or Defective?
I'm kind of big into warranties and the length and what it covers. and warranty on speakers have always boggled me so i figured this would be the perfect place to ask about speaker warranties.

If you purchase from a retailer that SUPPORTS his lines, then a manufacturer will stand behind their products. The warranty is for the retailer.... not you!
Buy "over the counter" or from an interweb "dealer":.... your ship is/has sunk! Burnt voice coils are abuse. Or a lame amp that has flown south.

Let's say you purchased a new car and drove it at red line all the time. When the engine blows up, do you really think the car dealer is going to fix it for free under warranty? They would have a great laugh at your expense. This is the same situation, so why would you expect them to fix/replace your sub for free when you were the one who abused it?
If you really want peace of mind, then have the equipment professionally installed by the shop you purchased it from and you won't have to worry. The shop I work at will cover blown speakers while under warranty if we did the installation. This is because it would be our error if you managed to blow it up.
ok i understand you cant do it unless you had it professionally screwed in for 200$.
