I recently purchased All rockford fosgate T1 12inch And T1001db Amp 2009, Mtx REQ3  for my line out converter. I finally got everything installed, I forgot to mention that I also have a rockford fosgate 10 farad cap. Well I had the install done yestarday. The installer started the car and the Mtx and the capacitor worked. Only thing was the amp wasnt lit up so he grabbed his prong and he zapped power to the amp and it lit up and started working, Working great to be exact , well once i cut the car off at home the same thing happened everything lit up but the amp and i cant figure out why the amp isnt lit up and not working. So im thinking the only way to get it working again is to jump it off again> but i dont want to keep doing that. The remote wire he check and found it when he hooked up the req. Like i said thas working fine, it just the amp that wont turn on when i turn the car on. So please give me some kinda incite! From what I was told here at work is that DC current is crazy! And Also the installer didnt do seperate grounds for the cap and the amp, he ran the ground from the amp to the capacitor  and cap to the ground on the car. Im trying not to have to send this amp back to rockford fosgate. Please help all info is greatly appreciated thanks nick

You need to check voltage on the remote wire.  When checking it, place the black meter lead to the ground connection on the amp.  Place the red lead on the remote screw.  Let me know what you come up with?

If the voltage is low, bring it back to the installer and have him put a relay on the remote wires.

Last night i took the fuse back off the power wire, and i have a capacitor installed also. Should I just put the fuse back in and do the reading or is it not safe because of the capictor might have discharged?

Having the cap (which most here will feel you should dump) connected or not, will have NO effect on your turn on trigger voltage.

Hook it all back up, get out your meter, and check voltage AT the amp, on the turn on wire. If so, I would follow the idiots suggestion

of using a relay.

Ok I just checked everything with the fuse in and it read 5 volts to the amp and the cap is sitting at 14.4 .

5V on the amp at the "remote" wire?
If so you'll need to use a relay to give the amp the 12V is needs to see on the remote wire to turn on.

Are you familiar with relays? I'm sure I'm an idiot has a diagram somewhere...lol

Ok u think it will be okay if I just find another 12v wire? I don't want to do the relay thing.

Yeah that too...
Find one at the fuse box that turns on with the ACCESSORIES and shut off with the key off.

If you can't find one, there is one at the stereo harness. Use the "vehicle wiring" section above to find your car's wire colors.

I don't think I'm gonna follow the wires back up if I can get around it, the factory bose system I has a total of 15 speakers and a factory amp in the back so I might be lucky. I'm gueing the wire I came off of was probably the auto trunk latch. My veicle is on this forum as far as the wireing goes. So I'm gonna go ahead and get my multi meter back out and do some searching. Does anybody know if my capacitor light is supposed to come on and off by itself? Even with the car off? Forgive me if somebody already posted this answer on here.

Did you pay for the install?  i would take it back to the installer and let him know what you found...most shops will void your warranty if they see something modified from their original install.  Besides.....you paid for it to work, and it's not.

Capacitor questions i can't answer for you...somebody else should.

Yeah guys I took it back to the installer, he didn't have the remote wire hooked to the right wire. After I let him know what you'll said was wrong he got right to it. And its working great guy! Thanks allot!
