this one has me stumped.I have a sony head unit,a dual amp for my 6x9's and a punch 401s running 2 memphis 15''pr's.when i turn it up where the bass really starts to hit the subs will cut out and if i turn it down a little they come back on,however if i fade all the way to just the subs i can hit them as hard as i want.

Check your remote and battery voltage on the 401s when the subs fade out.  Also check your ground connection.  How many RCA outputs does your deck have?  How do you have the 15's wired to the rockford amp? Dual or single voice coils, and what impedances are we working with?

connect the RCA's to the other amp and crank it.  If that one drops out then there is something wrong with the output on the deck or the RCA's.  More than likely the deck though!  It also might be your charging system like you stated, which is why you need to test voltage when volume drops.
