I have an amp running 2 6x8 and a get of tweeters but when i turn the volume up loud after a few seconds the tweeters seem to fade out. but the 6x8 sound great still. and as soon as i turn it down they come back on until i turn it up again. i was thinking of upgrading to a better set of tweeters(bullet tweeters) which can candle more power. i was thinking that the dome tweeters i have now are cutting out because they are getting to much power. please help need advice. thanks

There is a protection circuit in the crossover of the tweeters. This prevents you from damaging the tweeters by overdriving them.

Did you bypass a tweeter crossover and toast a pair of tweeters?

Check the tweeters' impedance with a DMM if you got one. If they are too low for your HU to support properly, that can overheat those amp channels and the HU will drop power output. Had something similar happen in a Dodge van my brother drives. His HU is in the dash which is just this thin plate of steel, dark navy in color. In his case, installing a fan after checking his speaker loading took care of the problem 100%. Florida sunlight beats that up all day and you can fry eggs on the dash and his Alpine faceplate - the deck would turn on, get weak, then shut down completely due to just ambient heat. So be aware of that too.
