I was looking online and I kept seeing ac units getting taken out the pully on belt setups and it being replaced with a secondary alternator . Is that possbile and would I have any luck doing it on a transverse engine 4.1L

Do you have a friend that works at a fab shop?  Yes it would be possible.  We have a customer in an expidition that has 3 alternators. 1 in factory location and 2 added on via fabricated brackets.  He claims that he can add another, if he can find a longer serpentine belt.  Where we live, removing an AC compressor is not an option.  But I see no reason it can not be done.

I don't have a friend that works in a shop but I have a friend that custom builds alternators and he might be able to do it. I live in cali and it never gets that hot out here so I need my ac. It makes my gas milage even worse in my cadillac. I'm going to do some more hunting and see if I can get some pictures as a example. How would the wiring go as for the big 3 and such does the factory mount one the master and the other alt which would be in the ac pulleys place be the slave. And how hard is it to get a special belt

Those are all questions I think you should be asking your mechanic or fabricator...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

True but in my situation in going to be installing it and if a custom alternator is to be built I have a shop that can make one. I'm just trying to cover all bases and learn as much as I can when in comes into adding a alternator to a transverse engine. I'm thinking if I put the alternator at the same distance as the ac pulley I won't need a special belt. But this may be tricky because the ac pulley and the alternators pulley is not the same diameter. What you all think.

If you do need a different belt, that should not be a problem.  Just go to the auto parts store and explain your situation.  Let them know if you need the next shorter or longer belt.  They come in 1 inch increments.  If you are having trouble with the auto parts personnel, you can take a piece of 18 Ga. wire and wrap it around the pulleys in the path that the belt is to take.  Measure the length of the wire and give them the length of the belt you need.
