Hello,
Currently im looking to install Two alpine Type X subwoofers (12'') with a Hifonics 2010D mono amp.
the amplifier is rated at 2000w @ 1.5Ω, If the subs are wired parallel / parallel will the amplifier hurt them? I've been reading around and cant find a definite answer.

Are the speakers single or dual voice coil? What is the impedance of the coil(s)?? What is the power handling of the speakers?

Dual 4Ω
RMS is 500-1000 peak 3000watts

you should be good just keep the gain and a low level, you are bring it to a 1ohm load and hifonics will give you about 1500-1700 rms from the amp you have. You should not have any problems but just in case you should keep the gains down.
------------- Can't be loud then don't have it.
(power acoustik system)
Head unit- TID-896 7" TOUCHSCREEN
ovn1-5500d 09 and another one coming soon
4-12" mofos 12ft3 box to 40hz (wall)
2 batterys, 1 power

What do you mean by "keep the gains down"? All by itself that is really poor advice. Please explain to this user what you mean and how they would properly set their gain for this application. ------------- Support the12volt.com

Well for 10+ YEAR I always have set my gains by ear but I got to be there to do that and I am not. If this advice is so bad Dyohn then you tell us as viewers of this forum the right advice for this problem, with only what he his to work with. That means 2 12" and the amp. Well I know what you are going to tell him get a smaller amp or upgrade the speakers. See I know what you are going to tell him. Im not trying to be a hard @ss but don't tell people that they have bad advice if you don't have none to give. Sorry to all the people out there that reads this.
Oh yeah for to let you know something hifonics is rated in Rms not watts. But still only puts out 75 to 80% of that amps rating. Don't really know about alpines rating but I assume that it us about the same. But like I said I really don't know about that.

No, I know the proper answer but was just checking to see if you did. "Keep the gain down" sounds to me like typical amateur advice from someone who might be able to do a simple install but who probably doesn't know how to adjust an amp to match a speaker. Your second paragraph reinforces this opinion. We've had too much bad advice on this forum lately and I am getting tired of it.. The correct answer to the OP is if you wire two 4-ohm DVC woofers in parallel/parallel you end up with a 1-ohm net impedance. Your Hifonics amplifier is rated to support a 1-ohm load. To ensure you are not overpowering the speakers, set the output of the amp using the volt meter method to no more than 2000 watts with max unclipped output from your head unit. If you need assistance determining what this is, please read the "How to set your gain" sticky in the Car Audio Hot Topics forum. ------------- Support the12volt.com

All you did is just summed up the loose ends of my post that is it. I know there is a lot of bad advice on this forum but does not mean you all always right. I don't have to prove my self to am one on this forum, I know how to set gains and install almost anything someone comes to me to install, If i don't know I do research like a true installer does. If you thank you know everything you don't sorry. I know you are a moderator at the forum but everyone has their own why of doing things. This is the thing the buyer has to know some kind of knowledge of what system here are getting if not they could be getting junk. But I am going to stop venting and just tell you that everyone is different. I don't know where you get your info or what knowledge you have and I dont really care to much. You don't say "sounds to me like typical amateur advice from someone who might be able to do a simple install but who probably doesn't know how to adjust an amp to match a speaker." because that is someone that thinks he know everything about car audio. News flash my friend every system is different as while as the car. Hope know one gets mad over this and kicks me off the site. If so nice talking to everyone and I will be back with a new name.

Wow, you really need to take an English class. At least use spell check so we can read what you are trying to say. You will sound more intelligent that way.
And Dyohn is absolutely right. You can't give advice on where to set a gain without knowing what head unit is being used. And you really need to choose your battles more wisely. There are few in this industry with the knowledge and experience Dyohn has. I doubt he ever gives audio advice if he isn't 100% sure it is correct. You might want to check someone's profile before claiming they are wrong.

1: Huh? What the hell does THAT mean? Amplifiers are ALL rated in watts. It's the conversion of energy, (from low-voltage, high-current DC to higher voltage, lower current AC) with losses. That's what an amplifier DOES. Every amplifier will have an RMS rating, as well. HiFonics is no exception to this rule. You'll also find the HiFonics ISN'T very highly regarded on this board. High-dollar, swap-o-rama gear, with high real-world distortion ratings, low damping factor, and exaggerated power claims. Not REALLY the amp to try to back here...
2: ...trying to "smack down" a moderator is generally a pretty bad idea, if you want to return. Generally, the mods here (That'd be DYohn, Velocity Motors, and wirewise) are not vengeful, but your overall attitude is a good start on a banning! (And you JUST made standard member as well...)
3: I happen to know DYohn personally, and I can assure you, he's NOT the kind of guy that types ANYTHING if he isn't 100% sure of it's content. There is a list of about 10 people here that are head and shoulders above your average tech guy, and DYohn lives VERY close to the top of that list, if not THE top. That guy has done more than quite possibly 75% of the other members on this forum, COMBINED. BAD guy to pick a fight with, especially involving tech.
4: Wuz dat Engrish? (That's a general comment on ALL of your posts in this thread thus far...) Slow down, read your comment carefully before posting it. There is a preview button, use it. You'll be taken FAR more seriously if you spent a little bit of time and energy proofreading your comments.
5: I don't think your response was even REMOTELY professional. I saw no attack from DYohn, merely constructive criticism. You don't take ANY kind of criticism well, do you? What... 23, maybe 25 years old? Yeah, I remember when *I* was 25... I thought I knew it all, as well. Sure, you've got your own business. Congratulations. I do too! Wanna keep it forever? Listen to and learn from the people that I can GUARANTEE you have been in this industry or something like it, for LIKELY longer than you have been alive. ------------- It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
