I've been having a problem with my front component system. I initially noticed the problem a few months ago when the front right component speaker (tweeter) began distorting at above half volume. I thought it was my crossovers so I fiddled with them and they eventually stopped.
The problem came back a few days ago when I was tuning my system. The same right side began to distort again and I fiddled with the cross over again -> did not work.
Then the left side woofer went out and only the tweeter was playing.
I fiddled around a bit again and the right side that was distorting stopped but the left side woofer still does not work.
I opened the crossover casing and looked for any signs of burnt parts but everything seemed fine to me.
My set up was pieced together.. so here goes:
The crossovers for the components are MTX Thunder Series
The front component woofer are pioneer (I cant remember the model number)
The front component tweeter is MTX
The amp is a JBL GTO 755.6
HU is Pioneer DEH-P6800MP
If the sub and rear deck speakers matter I'll list them if needed.
Everything is in a 98 neon
What do you mean you "fiddled around" with things?
Combining pre-made crossovers with speakers they were not designed for is questionable at best and more often than not leads to bad sound and short component life. I recommend you invest in a proper component set, or design a crossover specifically for those speakers.

Support the12volt.comBy fiddling around I meant that I adjusted the wires (incase anything got lose) as well as giving the crossover a tap to see if caveman methods work.
If i remember correctly, none of it worked. It came on for itself.
The reason for the mix and match is because I was on a tight budget (and still is:( ) so I had to make due with what I had.
