Hello everybody!

Yesterday I began to install a system in my cousin's 2001 Mercedez CLK 320, equipped with Bose. Everything went fine, no issues, until I fired up the 4ch amp I installed, a Crunch 4ch with around 110w rmsx4. The factory Mercedez head unit was replaced with a Pioneer Premier unit, I removed the Bose factory amp, but did leave the stock Bose speakers per my cousin's request. I tapped into the output wires that came out from the Bose amp. I did the 9v battery "pop" test to confirm all the wires were correct.

The problem is, there is noise coming from the speakers even with the car off, the noise is like a humming sound. Once you turn on the car, it gest worst. Since the battery is in the trunk, there are only about 4 ft of power wire by the time it gets to the amp. And the ground is to a metal part of the body, within 2 feet of the amp, paint stripped and all!

I've heard that the problem could be due to the impedance of the Bose speakers, and also that a complete rewire is a must!, but why?, the OEM wires were of a decent gauge(16) and don't they connect directly to the speakers?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Frank

Some Bose speakers are 1 Ohm speakers.   Some are 4 Ohm.  You really need to check and make sure that vehicle had 4 Ohm speakers.

Now for your noise issue.  https://bcae1.com/images/rca/temporaryrcashieldrepair.html
