Hey,
i got a
Rockford Fosgate Punch 600.4 amplifier to amplify my speakers.
Here my speakers:
Front: 4x6 Infinity reference 6422cf 40 Watts RMS at 2 Ohms
Rear: Alpine Alpine SPS-6939S (Old) 30 Watts RMS at 4 Ohms
Head unit: Sony Xplod CDX GT220
I use two Passive Line Output converter for channel Front and Rear.
So here the deal.. the amplifier that i got is too powerfull (LOL) for my speakers.. It push 75 Watts RMS x4 at 4ohms and 150 Watts RMS at 2 Ohms.. When i turn the volume up my speakers can't handle that power..So what can i do?? Buying another amp? (im thinking about exchanging this one).. The gain is very low about at the first dot..
My sub is a Apline Type-S 300 Watts RMS powered by a Pioneer GM-D7400M so i dont really need much bass from speakers
Im also thinking about removing my ported enclosure and putting a Sealed box specialy builded for the Type S for an SQ Setup.. is it possible to get a Good SQ Setup with these speakers that i got right now and the sub with a new box?
Turn the damn gain down! NO amplifier ALWAYS makes it's rated power. If your gain is set to 5VRMS, and you will only ever be feeding it 2.5VRMS, then the amplifier will never make more than half it's rated power. The opposite also applies! If you have your gain set to 2.5VRMS, but your deck is rated 5VRMS, then you WILL drive that amp all the way into clipping with almost not even touching the volume.
Now, in answer to your second question: With a Sony head, LOC's, a RF amplifier... That's three strikes AGAINST any SQ system.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
Im thinking buying a pioneer DEH-P5100UB HU and removing the LOC. But for the 4 channels amp.. what do you recommand ?
