I need to replacement the stereo sys. but i don't want to loose the factory nav. Q.? can i just instal the new stereo in parallel and leave the factory radio hide some were Thank you ------------- wilomar

Not easily, no. But anything is possible. I suggest visiting a good car stereo shop in your area and discussing options. Expect a rather large investment to do it right. ------------- Support the12volt.com

if you just want to tuck the factory radio away somewhere then what is the point to keeping it in the first place? am i not getting something.

if it were me, and i was wanting to do a nice system and keep nav, i'd just replace the factory system w/ something like a pioneer avic model w/ built-in nav. that way, i'd have nav but also have the beginning of a very nice, easily-interfaced and upgradeable system.
i just don't see the sense in spending extra money to hide something or do custom work, when you can replace the unit for just a little more.

The cd player is not working and this customer don't like to expend to much money so the only option that i see is installing a new receiver only or adding an aux input to conect a mp3 or ipod or cd player

oh, sorry. thought we were talking 'bout your car. in that case, just do what the customer wants. but, i'd explain to him EVERY pro and the even longer list of cons.
However, he's still gonna have to pay for the CD player, any materials used to custom mount is and all that extra labor. I'm still saying that he'd be better off saving some money or going w/ an off-brand or something along those lines.
just make sure YOU don't get hosed on this by not charging him enough labor for doing all that crap!

oh, and if he wants to just put in an aux jack, i'm about 100% sure that Peripheral makes a Ford interface. Would probably run him somewhere around $50-75.

you can add a cd receiver and tie into the existing speaker wires. bypass the factory amp if they have one. the only problem that i see is you would loose the sound from the factory nav. -------------

I searched a little on google and a couple of the ones with nav were equipped with an external 6 disc changer. That might be a viable option for your customer and some easy bolt on labor for you....
