hey guys,

a friend of mine has a 2006 Chevy Silverado. He hasn't done anything, except change the battery (of course) and now his factory radio needs a code. the problem is, he cannot find the code in print anywhere, and, the dealership wants to charge him $130 to reset the darn thing...which is robbery!

any solutions?

Get out your checkbook...

According the the12volt rules, which you agreed to upon sign-up, you cannot ask for, or expect to find, codes for ANY radio here.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

I have never heard of changing the battery in that new of a vehicle causing the radio to need the code entered.  Is it a Classic model?   The Classic may need a code, the non-Classic is a databus radio.  You can not take a radio from another vehicle and install it in a different vehicle without having the computer reprogrammed to accept the new radio.  If it is a  Classic, I may be able to help.  If it is not a Classic, dealership here you come.
