Trying to take out oem radio in a ford ranger 92'. It looks like I have to take the whole dash apart. Is there anyway I can get diagrams to see where latches are, and what not, or if you know can you tell me.

Are there 2 holes on each side of the radio?  About a half of an inch in and about 2 inches between the top and bottom hole?

You have to insert the tool until it clicks, and they pull the left tool to the left and pull the right tool to the right.  You have to have the tool in the correct spot.  It will go in too far or it may not be in far enough.

Did you pull the tools away from each other to move the locking mechanism in far enough for them to clear the dash?   It is common to have to pull them out enough to bend the tools.  Yes it sounds as though you should disconnect the battery.  We do it on every install, no matter how simple or complex the job.

I didn't bend the tools that far. It just looks that the radios face is underneath a lip of the dash molding. and it is the negative terminal correct?

And you said in the Ranger the dash shouldn't be a problem?

I do not remember ever having to take a panel off of a vehicle that had the radio with the 4 holes.

can you take a picture of the dash and post it?

I got instructions off the internet.
It says in the 85(i think)-93 Ranger models you have to take off the ash tray, and undo the 2 screws. Then review the front face molding. Unclip the AC clips then take out the radio.

Remove the ashtray and 2 screws exposed in the ashtray cavity, remove panel surrounding radio and a/c vents, then use the ford radio removal tools to remove radio.
