i recently installed a: PREMIUM SYSTEM INTERFACE UNIVERSAL DIRECT SPLICE-IN by installer edge in a 02 toyota solara with a jbl premium system to hook a kewood head and im getting real low sound from the speakers i turned the levels all the way up and nothing can anyone tell me whats wrong
It might have something to do with the factory amp thats in the car. Have you checked for that? The reason I say this is my roomate had a Pathfinder and had a hella hard time getting it to sound right because he had a funky factory amp, he had to buy some kind of crossover that hooked to the wiring harness of the OM HU, then it worked great. I don't know if thats you case. Are you trying to bypass the whole JBL amp system and run your speakers straight off the Kenwood HU?
Try reaching way into the right rear of the radio cavity, and see if you can find a pair of plugs that are plugged together. Disconnect them, and bring out the male ends. A standard Metra 70-1761 harness will attach here, and the amp will be already bypassed---no need for the Installer Edge piece.
I know that the plug I speak of is present on amplified Camrys and Solaras, but I'm not sure if it's the same way for the JBL setup---so I can't promise you'll find the plug there---but it's worth checking for.
