wiring options 10in rockford fosgates

Fellow 12Voltians,

I have recently purchased a pretty nice Headunit, subwoofer and amp set-up for my car. However I would like to know my best options are as far as the wiring inside the box goes. I know a little about subs and how to try and get the best quality sound possible, HOWEVER I would like for you guys to chime in and let me know if there is a better option out there besides what I have done. You have my question above and now for the specs of the items I have:

Sealed Rockford Fosgate enclosure

Rockford Fosgate P500-1bd 500 Watt Class-bd Mono Amplifier

(2) 10" Punch P2 4-Ohm DVC Subwoofer

Pioneer AVIC F910bt

They have various wiring diagrams on the site but I am still not sure which to use. If you click on the link below and click on "Wiring Wizard" it brings up various options just not sure which to choose in order to optimize performance with the amp and 2 subs I have.

...Again I would like to know the best setup for the equipment that I have. I know the word "best" is objective so in terms of "best" I mean quality sound with less distortion but when I want to set off a couple of car alarms its not a problem lol. Thanks to every in advance for their suggestions.

And also I notice that on some diagrams that the wire from one sub is connected to the other sub? How is this done if I have a box that has a board the seperates the two compartments. Would I have to drill a small hole in order to get the wiring right?

Before you suggest it I did go to woofer wiring but would still like for you all to chime in and let me know personalized answers with the equipment that I have. Thanks again

You have two woofers, yes?

With two woofers, you can load the amp with 1, 4 or 16 ohms. Your lowest distortion and highest damping will be at 16 ohms, but that, even in MY opinion, is a very inefficient use of the amp. A 1 ohm load will give you the most power, but the highest distortion, lowest damping and lowest efficiency. Obviously, your best trade will be the 4 ohm load.

I know that in the relay section of the website, there is a series/parallel to parallel/parallel relay setup, which will allow you, with the push of a button, to switch from SQ to SPL (+6dB) mode. This is my suggestion for you.

I might mention, that even though there might be 28 views, there might go a few days before a reply happens, but there are VERY few threads that don't get answered... Sometimes we just have to wait a little bit. :)

Ok I took a look at the relay but I am certainly a "Plain-n-simple" kinda guy, I know there isnt anything plain and simple about electronics. but what are the obvious advantages of being able to switch between the two, SQ to SPL?

...and also I am still looking at the diagram and it only has outputs for one voice coil on each sub. I have 2 4ohm DVC subs does it really matter or just wire them to ONE voice coil on each sub and it'll work or what? ALSO...is there any particular wires I need to wire the relays as well as do i just wire them as the graph and attach accordingly. and what is the best placement for the relay so I can switch between each...

The difference will be SPL vs SQ, yes.

Wire the woofers as 2-ohm woofers... Treat them that way... They are 2-ohm woofers from here on out... Wire the voice coils in parallel, and forget they are DVC woofers from this moment on!

Now, wire the relays as directed, and then you will have a 1-ohm SPL setup and a 4-ohm SQ setup. If you are not interested in the "extra parts/work", then just wire it all up for 4 ohms, and call it a day.

Sounds like a grand idea...But as far as the wiring goes I am a lil shaky on that. lol If you didnt mind helping me out with a couple more diagrams I'd be more than happy to try it out...
