This is my first install and I can't find the ground wire. I have three harnesses. One is the main one without a black wire, the second is a smaller white harness with only 5 or so wires which includes a thicker cable wrapped in black electrical tape. The third is a single black and blue cable with grey spots on it and it's end says AMP. What do you think? Thanks, Heath

i can't give you any colours but i can give you a tip, just ground the wire on a piece of bare metal behind the console, Or if the deck is being mounted to a metal surface that is attached to the chassis, just fasten the ground together with one of the mounting screws!

Thanks for the head up. There is an odd round heavy duty bar that runs behind the headunit which may attach to the frame. Would it be OK to just solder it on there?

Chances of getting that bar hot enough to solder to, without damaging your car, is going to be slim to none. Use a self tapping screw and a ring terminal. Run a second screw over the top of that to keep that screw from backing out.

Run a self tapping screw through the ring terminal and into the bar. Then run a second screw through the bar, placing the screw directly on side of the first screw. Turns out that single black wire is a ground, not sure if that's what it was intended for, but I was told by a technician that it would would work fine. For a lower ground for the satelite radio I inserted the cable under the bolt that affixes the seat bas to the floor. Thanks for the help!

Testing continuity is not a good practice. For one, if you happen to test an illumination or dimmer wire, you will wonder why the radio will only turn on when you turn on your lights. If you happen to test for continuity on a wire you think is ground, test that wire for illumination, dimmer, whatever. KNOW what the wire is! Test the constant with the suspect wire as "ground" to assure you have ground. Or like stated above, just run one! I have seen a few times where people come into the shop and ask me why their radio only works when they turn on their lights:) ------------- Big Al
