What year/make/model is it and does it have any upgraded sound system such as factory bose, clarion, infinity?

1993 Camry. The speakers that are making the popping noise are Alpine SPS-69C3's.

thanks for that link "i am an idiot".

but i dont have any soldering tools. tell me this. where is the best place to ground a deck? because i grounded it on the headunit's bracket arm. its a piece of metal that holds the deck in place and i screwed it down with a screw.

Did touching a grounded wire to the shield of your RCA cable make the popping go away?

Are your rear speakers connected to an outboard amplifier, or to the radio?

Yes touch the grounded wire to the shield of the rear RCA cable at the back of the radio.

Yes grounded to the radio's ground wire will be fine.  If you touch and hold the grounded wire to either RCA cable, the result you are looking for is the popping noise is to go away.

its called troubleshooting. you do something to fix the problem, see what happens, and you make your next move based on what happened before. if it works then fine, but if it doesnt then you move on to the next idea.

Nah, just hold it there for a few hours.

few hours? are you serious?

OK  only one hour.
Let's think about this for a minute.  If you touch the grounded wire to the shield of the RCA cable in an attempt to get rid of a noise that occurs when you change CD tracks, or change radio stations, and also when the volume is turned from 0 to 1 and also when turned from 1 to 0.  How are you going to know if it fixed the problem?  Hint:there are 3 things you can do while holding the grounded wire to the RCA jack.  Either of the 3 things that made noise yesterday are the 3 things you can try.

After you touch the wire...change tracks...move volume from 0-1...1-0...Still have noise...?
