ok, I'm looking to outfit my truck that will be mainly used for off road fun and some on road driving. I plan on putting in front and rear speakers and amping them with a Rockford fosgate amp that is in my car now that will be replaced with a kicker.

I use my Ipod for music and nothing else really so no radio and no CD player is not a big deal. I know that I could use a headphone to RCA cable and plug it directly into the input of the amp but I thought I remember reading that you can damage your stereo components that way.

is there any device that acts like a head unit that you can plug and ipod into to act as a head unit but isn't one? sorry if I'm confusing.

Thanks,

Jonathan

There is no way you can damage your components that way, UNLESS you overdrive the amplifier... It's the same as any other audio signal.

My suggestion is that you leave the gain ALL THE WAY DOWN, and then simply plug in your iPod. No issues at all...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
