On the above mentioned 95 to 02 vehicles, the air conditioner control module has a circuit board mounted to the top of it.  This circuit board is very easily accessible by an antenna adapter or an unused RCA cable.  If either of the 2 were to touch the top of the board, it is guaranteed to take the control module out.    When these trucks were current, I repaired a bunch of them.  I got another one a few days ago.  I have never seen or heard of someone taking one out here.  I was just wondering if it was happening only here.   If somebody does happen to take one out, it is a simple repair,  It is a matter of jumping the burnt traces and replacing 1 of 3 transistors.

Just a tip for these. When I do deck installs I usually put 1-2 strips of d-tape over the top of this circuit area. It saves time and a huge headache. Also I tape any bare metal of antenna adapters for double protection.

And I probably wouldn't mess with trying to repair the circuit board.

funny you should mention this because we tried to repair the rear AC control in a 02 Cadillac escalade that came from another shop down the road. they tried to relocate the controls from the top to the bottom and fried it in the process.

HaHa....We used to keep a spare in our shop. When we would blow one, we would put the spare in, and repair the trace on the one we messed up. This was now the spare. It didn't happen alot, but it would always happen when you thought you had done everything you could to protect that board. lol. I'm with Yimke though, protecting the board with tape is the best thing to do.
