If it is a dual voice coil woofer, what are the chances that you only connected one of the 2 coils?    Did you cover or carpet the inside of the port?

It indeed is a DVC but the way it is wired there is pretty much no way for one not to be working and i did not carpet any part inside the box i carpeted up to the edge of port.  Its like the carpet took out some resonast(sp).

Is the box completely stable and secure in its location?

wired in parrallel if u do no know DD they run direct wire no connetions they i stripped all wires all 4 speaker wires and both amp wires about an 1 1/2 back and all 3 possitives are twisted together and all 3 neg are twisted together then wrapped several times with electrical tape

no the box is not bolted down at the time and that is in the very near future but i was not bolted down before the carpet

I plan to pull the amp out tomorrow the amp does not have termanals either the speaker wire just comes out of the back of the amp i  am goin to check in side the amp and see if anything is loose where the wire is connected

has anyone esle lost bass or noticed a diff after carpet?

I am still leaning toward an open voice coil or a bad connection on one of the coils.  Can you play one coil at a time to make sure they are both working?

no there is no way to play one at a time the amp is a face mount only the face is assesble everything else is in the box. and i dont think i would hit as hard if i only had one coil hitting it almost seems that before the carpet it would alow the box to transfer more sound and now the carpet is damping it.

i think i might paint the inside of the box with resin to hopefully get more echo out of it if that makes sense.

....what type of carpet did you use? Are the speaker sealed around the ring mount? I've seen some guys use thick carpet that doesn't seal well around the speaker. Which means less spl.

If your amp is producing 750 watts with both coils driven, chances are it will produce around 500 watts with only one coil driven.  The difference between 2 coils at 375 a piece Vs. one coil at 500 watts, could be the difference that you are experiencing.

hey the web site i order sound stuff from has painted boxes and they cost more so i asked them why ,and they replied saying that they take more work  to paint and may give you a deeper sound im gonna get a sealed one for my kickers .i am wondering if i should stuff it 50% full of polyfill like kicker recomends.    do you have polyfill or anything in your ported box?
