power cable not big enough?

if an amp shuts off... could it be that the main power source cable isnt transfering enough volts to run the amp?

If the wire is too small to handle the current demands of your amp, then yes it could cause it to shut off.  What gauge wire did you use, and what kind of amplifier?  Does the amp have fuse(s) mounted to it?  If so how many and what is the current rating of the fuses?

Yes...Is the gain cranked up pretty high...? How did you wire the speaker(s)to the amp...? Are we talking subs here...If so...What kind...(model #)? There are a few factors that might play into the problem you are experiencing...! And im sure we can help...! (for a small fee...!)
