Hey everyone.

I have a Kicker 08ZX2500.1 amp and a fully loaded 15'' Fi BTL which are going to be put in my '99 Ford Taurus. I was just wondering what you guys recommend for electrical upgrades, if any. I think the car's stock alternator is rated at 115 amps and it has just a normal starting battery under the hood. What do you all think? High output alternator? Second battery? Capacitor? Nothing at all?

Any advice would be great.

I already planned on doing the Big 3 - I understand the importance of that. But may I ask why you suggest a HO alternator? I've been told numerous different things at every local car audio shop and car shop in general that I have gone to and talked about my car's electrical with. Some say I NEED a HO alternator, others say my stock alternator will do just fine and that all I'll need is a second battery and a capacitor.

Do a forum search w/ those questions...If you add a 2nd battery and cap...Now this alternator your worried about has to charge a 2nd battery and a cap...Stick w/ what Dyohn said...Do the big 3 upgrade...Install equipment...Put a meter on the amp and lets see what the power loss is ...For right now...The Big 3 and go from there...!!!!! He suggested a HO Alternator if you need it...!! Do we lknow if you need it...Not untill you do big 3 and install equipment to see What the voltage is dropping to...!

I searched and read a couple other posts on the topic - I see what a second battery and cap would do to the alternator. I'll get it installed and do the big three, then I'll update this. Thanks!
