running 2 amps

my friend has been trying to run two amps in his car.he says when he turn the car on it makes a loud noise but it playes fine when running off the battery.could it be a ground loop? never had this problem before.

its a alpine radio.it makes a loud pop first it sound like the alternator through the subs.
