Right now I have a cheap power acoustic amp running some MB Quartz component speakers.  That amp is getting ready to die...shocker!  For my next higher quality amp, do I set the filter at high or full for the components?  I have MB Quartz in both the front and the back of my truck.  My amp for the rear speakers has already died.  So, I'm either going to go with a 4-channel or 2 2-channel.  Any suggestions there?  Thanks!

I've never heard of MB Quartz speaker systems, so I can't really tell you what that manufacturer's recommendations are.

Generally speaking, set the amplifier's high-pass to 80Hz or higher, to start. If you find you can't get adequate output with that frequency without the woofers "banging against the stops", raise the frequency. Personally, I'd never go much higher than about 100Hz, but that's just me. Others here might suggest differently.

A single 4-channel amplifier will have a smaller footprint than two 2-channel amps, and be easier to install - 1 power, remote and ground wire - and neater looking, IMO, as well. There is no "right" or "wrong" way, however.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Thanks for the quick reply and info.  I made a miss type for the speakers.  They are MB Quart, no "z".  And the models are DSD-216 6.5" in the front and DUA-210 4" in the back.  I have them installed in a 2001 Nissan Fronteir Crew Cab.

Im with haemphy on the 100hz, sometimes even higher. I've noticed that higher quality amps get away with a lower Hz level. Perhaps due to clearer sound. Without subs, I would set my system to flat or the minimum HPF level.

I've squeezed in an Audiobahn 1051T subwoofer in the back run by a Kenwood KAC-7204 also.  I don't know if I have enough room to have a 4 channel under my seats.  I've already had to do some modifications to get the 2 2-channels to fit. Thank you both for the info!
