hey guys if i had to make my port width 1/2 in would that be ok? it seems really narrow but i dont know if that will affect the sound at all.

It might be OK. What's the other dimensions? How large is the enclosure? What is the woofer and what kind of power is the system seeing? The down side of a small port is it can create audible noise if its too small (and of course it changes the resonant frequency but I assume you know that.) ------------- Support the12volt.com

well the outside box dimensions are going to be 15" W x 16"H x 22" D giving me about 2.32ft^3 after displacement im looking at around 2.12 (including internal bracing.) my plan was to make the port underneath the driver facing the same direction. the port dimensions would be 13.5" W x 1/2"H x whatever depth i would tune it to. probably 38hz. i will be putting an AQ HDC3 12 in it and be giving it the full 1000w rms. i could make the port 1" tall but im worried about losing support on the baffle board. thanks dyohn!

That would be too narrow IMO. The general rule I have heard is at least 1" width for every 9". I have also heard 1" every 12" height but you get the idea.
The bigger issue besides the port being narrow is that it is not enough port area. You should have a larger port area for that enclosure. If you do not have enough internal volume with a larger port then I would recommend using an aeroport.
I don't quite understand what you mean by loosing support on the baffle.

that port is WAYYYY too small.
for that enclosure if your port is 13.5" wide it should be ATLEAST 2.25" TALL.
that current design will FAIL and sound like complete DOG ASS

lol thanks for the input guys aznboi im just gonna pm you with box questions from now on. what would you reccomend? thats as big as i can make the box because im going to get another one down the road and make another identical box. i want to face the driver and port from the trunk into the cab and seal off the trunk so that the only airspace being used by the subs is in the cab. thanks again guys

2.2-2.5 cu ft net would be best for the HDC12.
anything smaller and I would suggest getting the 10s. These subs need their airspace and a good amount of port area as they will move some decent air.
You current design has 6.75 sq inches of port area for the one sub...you need atleast 30 sq inches of port area. With that little amount the enclosure will act as a very leaky sealed enclosure and sound like crap.
If you dont have enough space than either downsize the subs or use less subs

Ok well ill be honest the only reason i was going to make these boxes so small is because the opening for my trunk is kinda small and difficult to get bigger boxes in. I would like to have my system in the 140 db's going down the street. Would that be possible with 1 HDC3 12 in a trunk car even with a properly build and designed box? Thanks a lot for your help guys and sorry if it seems like im being stubborn. lol

UPDATE!!
Ok guys...I'm an idiot...I mis-measured my trunk space and now I have a new setup idea. The boxes would be 18"W x 15"H x 22" L giving my 2.6Ft^3 then the port would be 2.5"W x 13.5"H x 20.93"L giving me the sufficient port area (is that correct Aznboi?) and I can still easily fit both those in my trunk. How is that now? Thanks guys please show mercy when responding. lol

Yeah with the port area and speaker area deducted you should have just under 2.1 cu.ft. per box. and tuned to about 37 hertz.

I think ud want a bigger box than that for that AQ my buddy just got an AQ18 and if my head was just a bit smaller i could put my head in his port id say at least 3 inches is the lowest u wanna go.
