Hi, i'm back again!
I want to buy the 1100d directed amp and run two of JL's 12w3v2 subs.
The amp is said to run 1x800w rms at 2ohms. I checked on JL's website and 400rms per sub is more or less ok.
I'm a little thick so laymens terms are needed with me, What ohms do I buy the subs at? dual 4 or dual 2?
I don't really understand the ohm thing, so thats why i'm asking. Cheers!
If the amp you are buying is stable at 2ohms mono, which it looks like it is, I would go with the dual 2ohm subs. By wiring them series-parallel, you will get a 2 ohm load and get the most power out of your amp. To wire series parallel wire the positive on one coil to the negative on the other coil on the same sub, this will leave you with one positive, and one negative terminal unhooked on each sub. Now wire the two subs together positive to positive, and negative to negative. Wiring this way will give you a 2 ohm load.
Like Cletis said go for the 2 ohms model and here is a diagram of how to wire them https://www.audiobahninc.com/tech/wiring/parallel_series_dual_2_ohm.pdf
The parallel resistance formula on that site is incorrect. Rparallel = 1/(1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3...)

The 2 speaker DVC picture is also wrong. That shows all coils in parallel with 1 speaker phase reversed.

thanks for the comments. I actually found the wiring diagrams off jl's website just after I posted on here, i'll be buying the 2 ohm ones as you said.
cheers again everyone.
I may post another question about equalizers soon, so keep an eye out. c ya. ;-)
