I am trying to reduce the bass signal from my Ipod.  I would like to know if this is possible to do the way I am asking.  Can I cut a 3.5mm aux cable and install some sort of resistor or capacitor in line from the Ipod to the stereo to reduce the bass signal to the stereo.  I know there are equalizers but I would like to know if this way can work.  If so what would I need to install in line.  Thank you for the help.

Sal

Are you running the I-Pod directly into an amplifier?  Does the amplifier have a high pass crossover?  Have you tried turning the crossover on and adjust the crossover frequency to see if that will work for you?
If you have some kind of idea what frequency you want to cut, the following link may be helpful.

The iPod has an EQ built into it...

you need an ipod connection for the radio but your bass may not change cause you can't lower your bass of an ipod

No, it is not possible to do it the way you are asking.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

that seems like a lot more work than its worth. you can turn the bass down on the ipod itself.

The bass is turned down all the way on the ipod.  I was trying to find a way to remove more.  Thank you for the replies.  I guess there is no way of doing it the way I wanted.

Sure there is.  Connect the iPod to an electronic crossover...

Simple answer, DIY high pass crossover. Take a look at a first order or second order passive crossover. You can make your own for about $5-$10. Just take the aux cord, cut it, strip it, and so on. (You'll need 2 because it is stereo.)
