Hello,

I have an ORION HCCA 2400D Amp...

After a week of playing fine, the amp just powered off! I have checked the power connections and tested the Voltage with a Multimeter, the power reads 11.9 volts from the Capacitor and the Amp with the engine off... and with the Engine On, it reads 13.9! Both connections from the Battery to the Cap and From the Cap to the Amp Read the Same Voltage!

I checked the Voltage from the remote turn-on lead as well... with the Radio off it reads 9.1, 9.2 volts. With the Radio on it reads 12.0, 12.1 Volts!

I have checked all (3) Fuses in the Amp and they are all GOOD!

What could possibly be the issue with this amp?

The Car is a 1995 BMW E36 325is 2DR Coupe!

When you checked the voltage, did you have the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp, or did you have it to the chassis of the car? If the latter, check it with the black lead on the ground terminal of the amp.

On second thought, repair your ground connecttion, it is bad. There is no other logical explanation for having 9 volts on the remote wire with the radio turned off. You have a bad ground connection either at the amp or where that wire is grounded to the chassis of the car.

...or possibly at the battery. Check there as well, and with the battery, check all of the underhood connections, as well.

Thank you very much for the input... I will try this weekend to add a second Ground Connection from the battery to the Chassis!

I am currently using a Tsunami Power Station which sits on top of the Optima Battery that has Power & Ground Blocks for the Amps!

Maybe if I add a second Ground Connection from the Power Station to the Chassis, It will make things better for me.

Let me know what you think about this idea... Here Are Some Pics of the setup!
