1999 Silverado

My stock head unit doesn't have an amp turn on wire so I am running a wire to switched 12V in the fuse box.  Should the amp turn on be fused?  What size.  I am running an amp and a cross over.

Thanks,

          Tom

Yes, fuse it and a 3 amp fuse should be more than enough.

What fuse did you tap in to in the fuse box?  Are you on the load or line side of the fuse?  if you are on the load side of a non critical fuse (like the radio fuse) then you don't HAVE to have a fuse.  If you are on the load side of an essential fuse or the line side of any fuse then you should fuse it with a 1/2A - 3A fuse (the smaller the better).

I am on the line side of some unused tab in the secondary fuse box.

So there is no fuse at the connection...? Just the 2 slots...One being used by you...?

Just 2 tabs.  I put an inline fuse holder on the remote turn on wire.
