what is the thinnest material I can use to make a box for my subs. I have 2 image dynamics 10idq. I will be making 2 boxes as close to a .5 cubic ft. as possible. I'm very tight on space and need all the help i can get.

i would say fiberglass. Its thinner than mdf and you can use evry nook and cranny for airspace. It just takes a long time to make it.

You can try fiberglass but it's expensive and tough to work with and it will take you a while to build it. I don't even know if you'd end up saving space but I suppose it's possible.

My choice would be 1/2 inch MDF though I really recommend 3/4 inch, but you can usually get by with 1/2 if it has some kind of internal bracing.

The best way to optimize the space that you have would be to glass it like esmith69 suggested. That way you can form it to the contour of the area you are working with .that will give your self allot more volume in a smaller space then if you were to go with MDF. But if you were to go with mdf or a like material I would not go with anything less than 3/4 since your enclosure is so large. If you go with anything smaller you will have a lot of fluctuation in the enclosure from the pressure inside.
