I think the box design will determine that..re audio subs can generate otimimum and compact bass..alpine subs sounds clean when its in a slot ported box tunedto about 33 or 34 herts ....correct me if I'm wrong guyz

RE FTW. More power handling and IMO just a better sub all the way around.

An Alpine R-3  dualVC  4 ohm in a ported box is very hard to beat. Mine is powered by a kenwood 9103 wired to 2 ohm, and it works very well. But keep in mind, I'm not looking for "loudness", I'm lookin' for quality bass reproduction at moderately loud levels. ( in an 08 Chevy HHR) However , my 20 yr old "deaf" (not deff) son has the same in a sealed box. (same amp, same wiring in an 08 Chevy Cobalt 4dr)  and he says that his is "off da hook" (great too). So go figure.... BTW.. they really will handle more than 500 watts rms!

After MUCH research and consideration of just about every mfg. out there I decided to go RE. Single MX15D2 powered by BXI2610 (for now)lol. My box will be completed this next week and everyone I've spoken with that competes says it's going to be a monster. We'll see.

i have the same amp. its hard to beat for the price! a tad over rated on the power tho. prob more like 1800-2000 RMS @ 1 ohm. you get the proper box built for that sub, she'll pound!!
