Hi all,
I recently acquired a Kenwood EQ. IT will not power up, and I am wondering if there are any known trouble spots for this in this unit. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have neve seen that unit. There is a problem with bad solder joints at the power input plug on their slimmer units. I have no idea if yours uses the same plug, but it may be worth looking into. You are supplying it with constant 12v on the yellow wire and remote turn on power to the blue wire, right?

Yes. I am bench testing it with an old PC power supply, and have twisted the blue and yellow wires together. Also have tested the power plug outputs with a meter, and the wire is ok. I will look into the solder joints. This unit is a single DIN graphic EQ and spectrum analyzer.

Update:
On a hunch, I hooked the ground wire of my power supply to the ground screw on the back of the unit. The one intended to ground input or output RCA's. I got a powered up EQ! I guess there is a bad joint on the board for the ground. I am going to run it in this configuration.

It is either a bad solder joint on the plug, or a burnt trace between the plug and the chassis of the unit. It should be pretty easy to find. There is no red wire on the unit. Shoud be only Yellow, Blue and Black.

Sorry, Every Wire harnes ive ever worked with is the standard yellow, red and black for power. blue for remote turn on

It is yellow, blue, black, and orange for illumination color change. Ungrounded, it is green button backlights, and grounded it is orange.

It is not a radio. The blue is remote turn on. It turns on and off just as an amp does.
