Hey guys i think i bit off more than i can chew trying to install a cd player. I've got an 05 kia amanti and i took the old cd player out and went to wire in the new cd player tonight. I ran into a problem that the new deck would turn on but no sound. I realized there is another plug that needs to be wired in somehow, probably has to do with the infinity sound? There are about 6 wires in the plug and if anyone knows where they belong i would appreciate it greatly, thanks!

Slight update, I went to plug in the factory cd without the other plug and everything worked. I still cant figure out whats going on with the new cd player, there is 1 wire not hooked up and its pink with a black stripe?

Did you purchase the appropriate wiring harness for the vehicle?   Did you connect the wire on the harness that was labeled Power Antenna?  If not, you need to connect that wire to the Blue/White wire of your new deck.

The car does have an amplifier for an 8" sub, I'm planning on putting in a 12" sub in and keeping the 8" also im not sure. I did connect the power antenna wire, and all wires for that matter. When i bought the cd player, which is an alpine cda-105, they had me put my make and model down and sent me the wiring harness. I saw a number for the manu. of the harness, called it, and they said that they dont make one for my car. I have another number to call but they are closed.

Connect the factory radio again, using a volt meter turn the radio on and test the voltage on the pink/black wire.  if this wire has 12 volts on it when the radio is turned on, and 0 volts when the radio is turned off, chances are that this is the wire that turns the factory amp on.  If you do find that the wire has 12 volts on it when the radio is on, you should connect this wire to the bue/white wire of your new radio.

The pink/black wire was from the alpine harness its not from the car. I think they sent me the wrong harness, somehow the factory amp isnt turning on. Does anyone know where this amp is located?

Here is the audio info. Make sure your ORANGE / black wire in the Kia is getting 12 volts when your Alpine Radio is turned on. This is your amplifier turn on for the OEM amp.

     Battery          ORANGE          (+)          RADIO HARNESS
Accesory          PINK          (+)          RADIO HARNESS
Ground          BLACK          (-)          RADIO HARNESS
Illumination          BLUE/BLACK          (+)          RADIO HARNESS
Amp Turn On          ORANGE / BLACK          (+)          RADIO HARNESS
LF Speaker (+)          RED
THESE WIRES SUPPLY THE AUDIO SIGNAL TO THE AMPLIFIER
LF Speaker (-)          BLUE
RF Speaker (+)          WHITE
RF Speaker (-)          BROWN
LR Speaker (+)          ORANGE
LR Speaker (-)          BLUE
RR Speaker (+)          ORANGE
RR Speaker (-)          GREEN
Amp Location          ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE TRUNK

Another thought, Alpine decks have both a Blue wire and Blue/White wire coming off the deck. The blue wire only has power when you are listening to the radio, so if you are testing the Alpine using a CD this wire has no power. If the blue wire is the one powering the ORANGE / Black wire in the Kia and if you happen to be testing the Alpine using a Cd. This could also be your problem. I know its a shot in the dark, but you mentioned the only wire not hooked up is the Pink/black in the Alpine harness....
You should tape off the Blue wire on the Alpine and only be using the Blue/White. The Blue/White wire has power the whole time the Alpine head unit is on, whether you are listening to radio/cd/ipod, etc. It only losses power when you shut off the Alpine unit or turn off the car.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Frank

Frank, my alpine harness doesnt have an ORANGE / black. Should i pull the ORANGE / black from the kia harness and tie it in with the blue/white?

I just hooked up an amp/sub in my 05 kia after i finally got my cd player installed. The sub is a brand new jlw3v3-4ohm, and the amp is an older rockford punch 200.2. I hooked up everything and all the sub does is mumble. I havn't used this amp in a long time, how could i tell if its no good anymore? Thanks

The amp is 2 channel, i'd like to bridge it. I've tried both channels separately and the same thing happens.

Do you have a Pioneer radio?   If the amp is producing any kind of sound at the speaker, chences are the amp is fine.  If you do have a Pioneer radio, perform the test at the top of the following webpage.  https://bcae1.com/images/rca/temporaryrcashieldrepair.html

I went to try it again, 1 channel sounds clear but its not loud at all. The other channel just puts out distorted mumbles. Is there a place i can take this amp to have it looked at or fixed? I'm in MN if it makes a difference.

Is this your amp?   If so there is a crossover card inside the amp, you may need to remove it and reseat it back into it's socket.  It is accessible through the hole in th bottom cover that is covered by a plastic plug.  It also has seperate gain adjustments for left and right channels.  Make sure they are both in the same position.

Yeah my amp looks just like that. I tried taking out that card and put it in on LP. It was kind of stiff to get out maybe its a little corroded. I turned the gain all the way up on both channels just to have them equal until i get it going.

If the contacts are corroded on the crossover card, use some 200 grit sandpaper to remove the corrosion from all sets of connections on the card.  After cleaning with the sandpaper, apply some WD-40 on a paper towel and wipe al 4 sets of connections to prevent it from happening again.  The contacts on the socket in the circuit board are usually not affected by this.

That did help a little bit, I have it hooked up on 1 channel. When i try to bridge it through the other channel it doesnt do anything, must be fried. How much would this cost to fix? I'd like to put a little more power to this sub. Thanks
