I just installed a Pioneer Premier FH-P800T https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/In-Dash/CD-Players/Premier/FH-P800BT in my 2003 Mustang GT. My car was robbed a few days before thanksgiving so I replaced the old Pioneer (can't remember model) I had. I wrote down all my previous presets a while ago in case of battery issues or something along those lines. Everything is on point subwoofer level adjustments, high pass filter, etc etc. But I've always just had Low, Mid, and High on my equalizer, never a 7 band. 50Hz, 125Hz, 315Hz, 800Hz, 2Khz, 5Khz, and 12.5Khz is what I have to work with ? My last settings that were near perfect to my style were Low 0 to -1, Mid 1-2, and High +3,+4. So how do I adjust this 7 band equalizer.
I really hope someone can help me out with a basic pre-set I can do to start from based on what I had from the 3 band equalizer. Or a recommended range to set.
The car has ford Mach 460 still installed with the factory amps incorperated into the system. I have 2 Kenwood 12's and a Kenwood amp around 400x2. The system sounded great, I tuned it well and got it perfect to my ears. As is now with all previous settings set to correct from the last head unit and the 7 band equalizer set to 0 on all 7. The system of course doesn't sound good, lol. Its muffled.
Thanks
Josh

We really can't tell you how to adjust the equalizer that YOU have to listen to. You will have to listen to it and make some changes to see what improves or diminishes the sound. Set all frequencies to the middle position, now one at a time increase the level and then decrease the level of that same frequency. Make note as to how that particular frequency changes the sound. Set that one back to the center and move to the next frequency. Once you figure out what range of the music each band affects, it will be much easier for you to tailor your system to you/r liking.
Appreciate it. I'll try that. I decided for the time being to use 1 of the preset equalizers.
