I have a 96' Mustang non-Mach, with am/fm cassette, seperate CD player, and Amp.  I got into the car to leave for work this morning, and max volume on the radio and cassette is not much higher than the road noise.  Also, the CD player will not accept discs.  I have checked the fuse panel under the dash, and the high power panel under the hood.  I used a test light, and a DVM, all fuses check good.  My question is. Is circuit protection on the amp itself?  Any help would be freatly appreciated. thanx

I am not aware of any fuses on the back of the factory amp, although like all other amps it has speaker short protection.  That, however, would not explain why you are unable to insert CDs.  Use some ford keys to pop out the cd player and check the connections behind it.  Also, do the same with the factory deck.   Tha plugs for the factory amp are a little harder to get to but with a lil extra work it can be done.  If you are able to reach those make sure they're all plugged in and connected properly, too.
