99 Prelude 2 channel amp install

Just put a 2 channel amp into a 99 prelude today and wanted to just pass along a couple notes to you all in the hopes that it will save someone the time that I wasted figuring it outxx(

For the power wire, I drilled a hole in the firewall next to where the clutch goes through the firewall.  if you're looking at it from inside the car, I drilled just to the top right corner of the little section that's cutout for the clutch.  Don't go too far right though or you'll end up coming out on the other side behind this big black circle thingy (think it has something to do with the steering).  and of course use a grommet to protect the cable

The other problem I had was finding a ground for the amp.  I mounted the amp in the middle of the back seat seatback, and was trying to ground it to the metal divider hump that separates the cabin from the trunk.  Let me warn you right now that is some THICK steel!   I probably wasted about 30 minutes trying to put a screw in there and finally I just gave up.  I ended up using an existing bolt that's further to the right side of the vehicle.  I scraped away the little paint that was under the nut on the bolt, put a lock washer down, then just put my ring terminal of the ground wire underneath the factory nut  and tightened it up.  It took all of about 2 minutes, and it worked just fine.  Luckily I was installing an alpine amp that has all the connections on one side of the amp, so both mounting the amp and running the cables to it was relatively easy.  And it also makes for a very clean install.

Hopefully this will help some of you avoid the headaches I encountered.

hmmmmmmmm.....

1) Good spot for drilling but u shoulda been able to find a groumet on the passenger side.......

2) the ground wire should've went a bit smoother....under the rear seats is good....

yea I saw a rubber boot on the passenger side but from inside the vehicle I couldn't find the other end so I decided to move to a more open spot.

As for the ground wire, yes i agree it should have been much easier and it was once I found the right spot.  Thanks for the ideas.
