whats up all. im so torn here idk which way to jump.

first, i have an 08 ram single cab truck, i currently have installed as follows.

head unit : alpine ida-x001
subwoofers: 4 diamond audio d1 10s
mids/highs: alpine type r 6.5 component set
sub amp: diamond d3 1100.1
mids/highs amp: diamond d1 250.2

im almost certain my box is .5-.7 cubic feet per sub, the subs are two per chamber as built by the shop i bought the stuff from and theyre front firing..

basically ive got a dude that offered me a decent amount and the whole system is going. now. im lacking pretty bad in the midbass area and also in the really low stuff. i know i got tens and they do well for tens but, the only example i can give as i dont know what hz im wanting to hit at is the song WHITE GIRL by young jeezy, theres two distinct notes the higher one, my subs now pound it, the low one they dont. id like to hit the lower one moreso than the higher one...

so i guess long story slightly shorter

im thinkin of going 4 12s downfire sealed. from what ive measured i should have between 4.5 and 5 cubic ft of space to play with

open to any suggestions as far as equipment goes, im leaning towards the diamond d3 12s because im so pleased with the d1s that i have but im sure theres something maybe better out there.

im also switching up to the pioneer AVH-P4200DVD

so my budget after that is probably gonna be, lets say 1700 bucks, for equipment, ive got the 0awg wiring/big 3/possible alternator money set aside already.

thanks in advance fellas

josh.

Have you though of perhaps 1 15" sub? I to have a ram reg cab and have 2 12's ,I think I might ditch those and get one nice 15 for back there .just my 2 cents

From the sounds of it you may be more into them than you think if in a correct enclosure. How about you use less speakers of better quality and do a ported enclosure at say 30-32Hz tune? 2 good 12s ported in that size enclosure would be pretty loud and low. I just did my brother-in-laws civic with 2 12s and 1000rms 5 cube tuned to 29Hz its doing 140+db and gets very low.

BTW that tone in that song is around 30-32 Hz

im ok with doing ported for sure just dont really think i want 15s, then again ive never heard them done right before. i listen to alot of rock rap and some country, idk if that matters much at all.

I made a quick edit while you were typing. Listened to that song and used my tone generator to figure out about where that tone was. Seems right at 31Hz. 12s would probably suit you better IMO for the music you listen too and space. Ported for sure. Just remember 2 subs in a correct enclosure will sound better and louder that more in an enclosure that is too small. With 4.5 to 5 cube to play with. 2 12s of good quality should be right about on the money.

Well I have Usaci Test CD for tone use and a few other discs on my PC, also WinISD has a tone generator.
