I have a RFP3212 sub in a small box that I just had sitting around. I was going to build a new box to fit in the car better. For a sealed enclosure RF recommends a minimum of .9 cf and a maximum of 2.79 cf.  That seems like a wide range, just wondering if there are advantages to be at one of those numbers, or right in the middle(1.8).  Thanks.

.9 will give you the most spl but it won’t sound that great. 2.79 will give you the best sound quality but not a whole lot of bass. Fosgate recommends 1.25 for optimal sound which is the spec that I would go with.

Don't forget that if you build the box a little smaller like bberman1 recommended, that you can always add pollyfil to change the sound if your not happy with it. You essentially trick the subs into thinking they are in a larger enclosure by changing the soundwave (how it reverberates I mean). Run a search on "pollyfil" or "polyfil" or "insulation" on this site for more info on that if your interested
