i have a pioneer premier head unit 590IB, older fosgate punch 500w amp, a fosgate punch HE 12 inch woofer, and audio pipe 1 farad capacitor. my power and grounds are monster 8 gauge, and the rca's are monster as well.

when ever i turn the volume on my radio down to zero my subwoofer will thump once, its not too loud, but its noticeable. it also thumps when i step on the brake pedal, and also if i have a song playing and the volume is on zero i still can hear the bass very faintly.

the capacitor is grounded on a support bracket in the trunk, and i did clean off the paint off the metal.   does any1 know whats causing the thump?
