now i have a new issue. I just upgraded my amp and my cd player and now i have a whining feedback sound coming through my subs. its not road noise because it doesnt flucuate when i rev my engine. but its annoying as hell. also i plugged my ipod directly to my amp, no feedback. any suggestions?

Thanks for handling that for me Darren, kind of busy today, you know with Mardi Gras and the Saints winning the Super Bowl.

No it isn't necessary to ground the chassis of the head unit! You can use the ground wire provided!

You can ground the RCAs to either the chassis of the deck or you can add another wire to the connection from the ground wire of the radio.

ok, that didnt work. could it possibly be my deck? my amp? because i've upgraded my rcas to double twisted rcs (rf). also it doesnt make the noise when my car is on (dont knw if i put that already) but if the car is turned on, i have my rca to mini-plug plugged directly into my amp and plugged into my ipod, not a single hint of "road noise" or "feed back". so im a tad bit lost

Did you perform the test with the meter?  If so what is the resistance from the shield of the RCA cable to ground?
