I bought what I was told was a broken Monsoon 6CD in-dash changer from a salvage yard. I powered it up last night and it appears to turn on, load and unload CD's and allows me to set the clock. The LED blinks for the theft notification as well. From what I've read, this head unit uses data sent on the serial data line to compare its VIN to the VIN coming from the cars body control module. I haven't yet taken my dash panel off to plug this one in but I was curious if there was anything else I could check to verify that it works properly? I'm assuming I'll need to plug it in to my car and take it to the dealership if I want to validate anything further. Anyone have experience with newer GM factory radios?

Thanks!

A dealer will only be able to set up the radio if it is meant for your year, make and model. GM radios are not all the same, even if they look alike. If it is a Monsoon 6 CD it is probably meant for a Pontiac.

It's a direct match for the one in my car, I just need to find a dealer who will relearn the radio.
