I have read the sticky and searched for an answer, I either missed it or just didnt clearly understand it. So i just want to clarify before i do something wrong possibly.

Heres what i do understand, the positive from the back of the alt to the battery pos. is one.

The engine block to chassis is two,

Now my question is with the batt negative to chassis. My car is a 78 Lemans with a small block chev. The current negative off the battery consists of the factory cable that bolts to the alt bracket and on the battery end (side post) there is a small (10-12awg?) wire that comes off the terminal end of the cable and bolts to the inner bracing on the fender basically beside the battery.

Do i put the batt to chassis (#3) in place of the small wire to the fender or in place of the factory cable to the alt bracket? Or does it matter?

Sorry i couldnt find pics of the current factory wiring.

Battery to the inner fender well, where the stock wire is. Thats is considered part of the Chassis. Sometimes they are there and many other times the fire wall. If you go to the alt you are doing nothing to help the chassis.
