I am looking for a 12" sub that hits nice and low, works well in a ported or sealed enclosure, doesen't need more than 2 cubic feet to perform. And lastly doesn't cost more than $200.00 canadian.
Am I dreaming or is there a sub for me?
Any ideas???
What kind of amp do you plan on using?
i havent decided yet. I want to put together a nice system for a decent price. I already have a head unit (Alpine CDA-7893). Just trying to decide on the rest. There is soooo much to choose from that I am begining to feel overwhelmed. LOL
What i would do is go with 1 JL audio 12w6v2 you can get them on ebay for about 250 but if thats too much them you can go with the Regular JL 12w6s i just bought 4 for 160 a piece. and then you can use a JBL power 600x1 amp that will cost about 180 with shipping. and you will have a loud hitting system. See if bberman1 agrees with me.

That’s funny because that the exact setup I was going to suggest. But the V2 is slightly over budget but worth the extra money. You can pick one up in between 250 and 300
Another suggestion is an RFD2212 Power HX2 4ohm DVC. They're about $250 US (not sure what the currency exchange is right now to Canadian). It's 500RMS and 1000Peak. Sealed enclosure specs are 0.8 - 4.0, Ported enclosure spec is 2.0
Take it into a 2ohm mono amp that pushes around 500-600 RMS (like a Rockford Power 500bd) and you'll be over 142db easily. Rockford amps usually outperform their specs, and are a great buy (at least in my opinion).
If you want to spend the money and get a 1ohm stable amp, then you could get an RFD2112 Power HX2 2ohm DVC for the same price (but you would deffinately be spending more on an amp)
I'm not knocking any other brands, and bberman1 has become someone whose advise I trust, I just happen to know more about Rockford than the other brands right now!
