Hey guys, I have a Power Acoustik PS1200 amp and it was working fine until a few days ago. It's pushing a 10" Audiobahn Immortal sub. I was working on a security/remote start install for the past couple of days and when I got done and tried to turn on my stereo while I was cruising, I noticed I wasn't getting any bass. I check when I got the chance to stop and the amp wasn't even on! I went home and tested the wires, I have a good power source from the wire and the ground is connected to the same place it was when it was working fine. I checked the fused along the power line, and in the amp and they are still good. I can't figure out why my amp isn't turning on. PLEASE HELP me figure this out!
yes I have a multi-meter. I was just reading your thread where you were helping a guy with an orion amp!! I hope you can help me too!
I did not see any mention of the meter in your original post. Did you use the meter to check voltage on the power and remote wires of the amp? When checking, you need to hold the black meter lead to the ground termnal of the amp. Let me know what you find out.
Ok, stupid me...
I checked the remote wire and there was no voltage. Went to the back of the deck and found the wire disconnected. Reconnected and now the problem is solved! haha I should have checked that. Thanks guys!
While I have a thread up, I have a Power Acoustik ps1200 amo bridged and running to a single 10" Audiobahn Immortal amp. I'm not sure of how many ohms its running at but it's a quadcoil. If i'm bridging the amp and connecting it to a single quad coil sub, does that mean i'm at 2 ohms or 4 ohms? The reason why I am asking is because I want to figure out how many watts I am powering to the sub RMS.
There's a kid selling a Pyle PLA-2230 and is willing to trade with my amp and wondering if that amp would be better (provide more power to my sub) to power my sub. Thanks!
On the specs for the speaker it should tell you the impedance of the voice coils. What is that number?
So it is a quad voicecoil and each coil is 2ohm impedence. On the sub itself, it looks like the previous owner wired 1 voicecoil to another one and then connected a speaker wire from one side (2 voice coils) and the other one from the other side. I don't know if that makes any sense but I'm not sure how to describe it.
you can do .5ohm, 2ohm or 8ohm with sub using all 4 coils. Basically think of it as 2 dual 2ohm subs. Check out the speaker wire wizard on this site.
