older mtx 600 watt 4 channel amp. how hot should they get to the touch, this one gets pretty damn warm.. but works fine...

What speakers do you have connected to the amp? What is the impedance on each channel of the amp? With the volume turned all the way down and the amp powered up for about 10 minutes, how hot does it get?

all 4 ohm.. 2 5x7 and 2 6.5 on channel 1 and 2 1 12 inch sub bridges on 3 and 4 also 4 ohm svc...

on 15 minutes volume down.. barely warm, almost cool....

There is nothing wrong with your amp. You are running all 4 channels into the lowest impedance load that it is designed to run. Heating up is normal under these conditions. Of course it is directly proportional to the volume in which it is being played. There are 2 things you could try. First being wire the 5 x 7 and 6,5 in series for an 8 ohm load. You wil lose some volume, but the amp will not overheat.

The second thing would be try installing a 100 microfarad capacitor on the pair of speakers that produce the least amount of bass. This will be less effective in curing your problem. but the volume will be greater than the above mentioned option.
