DVC subs

I have 3 JL 12 w3's and a soundstream reference 700s amp. The subs have dual 4 ohm voice coils. I wanted to run them in a series which would give my amp a 2.67 ohm load. I hooked them up and it sounded poorly. Everything else seems to be in place and properly working. My question is when wiring in a series does it matter which voice coil you hook together, run one wire to the negative to the positive one on coil, and the other one is hooked up to the amp. I don't know if one side is different than the other. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

If you run them in series you would have a 24 ohm load. I think your talking about series-parallel which would give you a 2.6 ohm load. Here is a diagram which shows how they should be wired. https://www.audiobahninc.com/tech/wiring/Series_Parallel_dual_4_ohm.pdf

I believe that is how I had it hooked up the first time, like the graph shows. I unhooked all of the second coils and ran them as SVC 4 ohm speakers in a series which should give me a 1.33 ohm load. it sounded much better. but I am not sure if it is o.k. to run a dvc speaker using only one voice coil? Another question is that I have heard people say soundstream amps don't really work well until they have a load between 1/2 ohm to 2 ohms. is this true. I had the amp dyno tested at 823 watts rms at 2 ohms and I figured 2.67 load would be enough to kill those JL's at 2.67. Any other suggestions. I spent about 3,500 bucks on my system and it is breaking my heart to not have it give me double vision at full volume.

Don't run only 1 coil of a DVC, you'll fry the subs.

Is there any other way to get the load lower than 2.67 ohms and more than .66. I am not a pro at this and wonder if there is any unconventional way of wiring this up. If not I would wiring my amp up to .66 be o.k. if I put enough fans on it to simulate a tornado.

2 DVC drivers with Voice Coils in Parallel / Parallel Connecting the voice coils of each driver in parallel (+ to +, - to -) and the drivers themselves in parallel (+ to +, etc.) will result in the following impedances: Dual-6 Ohm Subwoofers: 1.5 Ohms Dual-4 Ohm Subwoofers: 1 Ohm Dual-2 Ohm Subwoofers: 0.5 Ohm

I have done that setup on my last system but now I have 3 subs instead of 2. Would it work to use one sub at 2 ohms and the other two at 8 ohms and wire them in a series. That way I could use both voice coils and have an impedance of 1.33 ohms. Or is that a sin to run subs with different impedances.

Don't worry anymore I am just going to buy a new amp that is 1/2 ohm stable mono. My other one sounded good on paper but not when put to the test. I hooked up 2 JL w6 12's to this amp and with a 1 ohm load and it outslammed my 3 12's by far. So I figured that has to be my problem, I am not pushing my amp hard enough, and with dual 4 ohm voice coils I don't have the flexability to wire it the way I want. Thanks for all of the help.
