ok so I just hooked up my little brothers system. 10 gauge wiring, a 80 glass fuse up front on the power wire, grounded to the chassis thats bare metal. it's a 4 channel amp hooked up to two 10" subs. the remote is run to the radio fuse itself in the fuse panel. for some reason though it won't turn off. my truck has the remote run to the radio fuse and i don't have this problem. any ideas?

You got the wrong fuse. Have you tested to make sure the voltage is turning off?

as of this moment i don't have access to a voltmeter. the amp takes two 25 rated fuses, so i figured an 80 up front would cut it. should I go lower?

On a new GM vehicle, the only fuse for the radio is the constant 12 volt supply.  There is no switched wire in those vehicles.

I think the other guy meant the radio fuse. But that fuse is only a constant +12v.  You would have to run the acc. to a cig lighter if possible or grab the acc from the ign harness itself or you can wire up a switch to the remote wire
