I have a Power acoustik 1250/2 Amp that has worked fine for the past few days but today it is switching quickly in and out of protect mode. Its wired with 4 gauge power and ground 80 amp fuse. It does this even with out speakers connected. It is gounded to one of the bolts for the rear seatbelt. Can someone give me an idea on whats going on or if the amp is shot

My first suggestion would be to ground the amplifier to a better location than the seat belt bolt, then let us know if that solved your problem or if you still have the same problem.

Chances are you have one or more shorted output transistors.  Remove the bottom cover and tell me if there are metal bars and screws holding the transistors to the heat sink, or if they are spring clamps without screws.  If they are spring clamps, do not try to remove them without further instructions.
