I am going to be running an Autotek MM4000.1 amp (4000watts). I have been researching batteries and I am wondering if the Stinger SPP1200 would be a good choice? I believe I would need two of these. A local shop has this one priced similar to the Kinetik2000 but they say the stinger is better and has the better warranty. After looking though it seems the spp1200 is a smaller SIZE battery and that would concern me that it is not going to be powerful enough. The SPP states it is rated at 2400 watts from the specs I read and the Kinetik is 2100 so from that I would think the Stinger would be just as close to the Kinetik if not a little more powerful. Any thoughts on this? I know many will say Kinetik is better but my concern is if the Stinger SPP1200 model is going to be strong enough when running two of them to power just under 4000 watts.
Thanks,
Dale
I am running a separate 250amp alt just for audio. I wont run the stereo unless the car is running. For the most part I will not run hard unless in a comp or occasion show off so then I would only need them to last 30min I guess. Other then that on daily driving I will have the gains turned down. The amp will probably take close to the 250amps at max power. It is in an avalanche truck so room is not a problem. I am running 0awg.
Cool - it sounds like you'll be about 100A short assuming full alternator output. 2 Stinger1200s at 100 should cover the 30 minutes (~40 minutes).
From my reading, some seem consider BattCaps give better performance.
I'll leave it to others to give their reality opinions.
I'd just suggest that since the alt will be undersized, go for a higher voltage if that's allowed (ie - a 14V battery).
The rest depends on the comp - ie, SPL or dB etc.
