I own a 2000 Chrysler Concorde lxi with premium factory sound system(Not Infinity). A few months ago i noticed a popping sound from my speakers during radio/CD playing(more pronounced during CD playback). This only happens when the engine is running. When car is on accessory, this does not happen. Anyway, I figured it was time for a bew Stereo, so i purchased and installed a new Pioneer Super Tuner Unit from Crutchfield, and installed it. I am still having this problem of a "popping" noise. Sometimes it gets so annoying that i don't even turn the radio on. I am totally stumped on this one. As far as i know, i have everything installed correctly. I connected the braided ground strap to the back of the radio just like the factory unit. Could this be a sign of a failing factory amp?  Please help!

How are the speakers connected? Are they through speaker wires or RCA jacks?

The speakers are wired through the speaker wires. I used the harness that Crutchfield supplies and then plugged that into factory harness

Sounds like you're hearing ignition noise probably due to a bad ground.
