Hey everybody. Just a quick question, I am working on my friend's 1998 Hyundai Accent, and the panel that covers the stereo is a crackhead to remove. I was able to pop it off, but I need to remove this cover, the problem is that the bottom half is where the AC/Heat controls are. I believe I found screws to disengage the AC/Heat Control box, but I cannot pull the panel out far enough to stick a screw driver in there, and the stereo will not come out until that panel is taken out. Please help ASAP. Thank you very much :-D

most hyundais have simple snaps and screws in the dash. I just did an install on a 2001 elantra. 2 screws over the gauges and 2 behind the ash tray. the rest was all snaps your best bet is to get a haynes or chiltons book on the car and it will help you with all the info you need at your fingertips.

Actually many hyundai's I've worked on are quite a pain to get the factory deck out. There is a control cable that goes to the back of the climate controls (where the temperature selector is), and the other end goes way down in the dash. Usually you can get to that other end if you lay down with your head near the gas pedal--it'll be just to the right of you behind the radio and climate control assemblies.
I don't really know how to explain exactly what you do with the cable. Bascially you just disconnect it so that you can pull the whole radio trim assembly out (with the control cable attatched to the part you pull out). And when you put everything back in you have to make sure that you feed the control cable properly back down to where it is secured near the gas pedal. Here is a page that might help you if you can't figure out how to detach it. https://carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalHyundaiElantra.htm
I know it's not the same model as your vehicle but most of the hyundais have this same type of cable thingy. Or there is a possibility that the control cable is fed actually to a spot behind the glove box. In that case you'd want to follow instructions like these:

Thank you very much, that climate control is a pain in the @$$. :-P
